Wayne Enterprises was established in the 17th Century by the Wayne merchants. It wasn't until the 19th Century, however, that it became an actual company by Alan Wayne. Wayne Enterprises has gone by many names over the years. Wayne Shipping Co., Wayne Chemical Co., WayneCorp, Wayne-Powers, and finally, in the early 20th Century, stuck with Wayne Enterprises. The annual income average for Wayne Enterprises, as of 2008, is roughly $98.5 billion. Wayne Enterprises has become a top ten multinational conglomerates. It is located in over 170 countries and employs about 170,000 people. The company consists of many, many, many, many things. Anywhere from market foods to the highest of the high complex technology. Current CEO and Chairman, Bruce Wayne, owns 51% of the company, making him the person to make any and all decisions when it comes to his company. Other top employees include Lucius Fox, CEO and Senior Vice President of Finance, and Miss Wells, Harvard MBA in Economics. Below are a list of different Wayne companies, and a description.

Wayne Electronics creates and distributes a variety of electronic devices including: MP3 players, DVD Players, Blu-Ray Players, cameras, camcorders, surveillance items, and any other electronic that you could think of.
Wayne Entertainment
Wayne Entertainment owns a variety of stadiums, modeling agencies, and multimedia housing. They also own the Daily Planet, where Bruce Wayne's friend, Clark Kent (Superman) works. Wayne Entertainment is in close competition with LexCorp (owned by Superman's arch nemesis, Lex Luthor) and other various entertainment companies.
Wayne Foods
Wayne Foods started out as Toole and Sons Food Merchants in Gotham City, started by Patrick Toole in 1872. Toole imported different kinds of food from Ireland and sold it as his company. Toole died in 1919, giving the company to his oldest son, Thomas. At the time, a war was going on in Europe, so getting food to his company was a hassle. Unable to bear the weight of the company, Thomas committed suicide in 1922. The business was passed down to Thomas's little brother, Rory. Rory did not want the company, so he sold it to Wayne Enterprises in 1925.
Wayne Enterprises made the Toole and Sons one of the best food retails to go to. It controlled over 60% of food retail across the city. In 1956, Wayne Enterprises changed the name from Toole and Sons Food Merchants to Wayne Foods.
Wayne Foundation
Wayne Foundation is where the Thomas Wayne Foundation and the Martha Wayne Foundation are located (As well as a secret Batcave). The Wayne Foundation mainly gives the money and resources to companies unable to have their own research facilities.
Thomas Wayne Foundation
Thomas Wayne Foundation was created for the aid of medicinal and medical help. Thomas Wayne Foundation is responsible for the Thomas Wayne Memorial Clinic in Park Row, Crime Alley in Gotham City.
Martha Wayne Foundation
Martha Wayne Foundation is for the help of arts, education, and tolerance. It provides schools, teachers, tutors, and other various types educational businesses. Grants are also given to young artists and others who have a tough time paying for certain items. The foundation also has a large number of soup kitchens throughout Gotham.

Wayne Shipping is a good way for Batman to find out about drug smugglers and other different smuggling items, because Wayne Shipping operates a large number of ships and freighters going to various different countries at one time. In 1986, Wayne Shipping (combining with PAAL Ship Corporation) became the largest commercial shipping operation for precious metals.
