The Batcave
The Batcave was created long before any Wayne family member ever even thought of buying the land, as a storage unit, and a way to transporting escaped slaves to the north in the Underground Railroad times. What was very coincidental was that the in the 18th century, a frontier hero, Tomahawk, found the cave and inside was an enormous bat. This monstrous bat mothered the other hundreds of bats flying around in this cave. The bat was said to be owned by Morgaine le Fey, of Arthurian legend.
Bruce Wayne, however, never actually knew the caves were there until he accidentally stumbled upon them as a kid. Bruce was playing near a dilapidated well. Somehow, he accidentally fell into it, and discovered this secret cave. At first, the cave meant nothing to Bruce, except a secret hideout to go to every now and then. But as he got older, he completely forgot about it. Until he became Batman. Once Bruce became Batman, he didn't have any SECRET headquarters. That's when he accidentally rediscovered it.
The 'Cave has many doorways, many ways to get in or out. The most used doorway is the secret door behind the grandfather clock in the Wayne Manor. Another doorway in the Wayne Manor is behind a bookshelf, which can be activated by pressing a button underneath a bust of William Shakespeare. When the button is pressed, the door slides open, and reveals two poles (A.K.A. The Batpoles) which Batman and Robin (see The Robins) slide down. Another secret door in the Wayne Manor is in a large display case. The case is next to a grand piano, and if you play the piano in a correct sequence, you unlock the secret door. Another secret door is at Wayne Enterprises (see Wayne Enterprises) underneath Bruce's chair in his office. The door leads to a tunnel which is miles long, it stretches all the way to the 'Cave. (I'm wondering how the h*** he got a tunnel to run underground from his office all the way to his 'Cave without anyone knowing anything! Is anyone thinking the same thing?) Another secret entrance is underground, by a large waterfall, which is where Batman can park his Bat-car, plane, and other vehicles (see Bat-Vehicles). The last known secret entrance of the 'Cave is in the well in which young Bruce Wayne stumbled upon it, only used in case of emergency, because of the fact that it is outside, out in the open.
The 'Cave has many features to it, such as it acts as a panic room. If there ever happened to be any sort of trouble, Batman could retreat there and be safe. And the computers are the most high-tech computers anyone will ever see. The computer is hooked up to all national and global security agencies around the globe. The computer is also hooked up to one of Wayne Enterprises satellites which monitors all activities on Earth. But don't worry, no one except Batman and Oracle (see Batgirl) is able to access the computers. Any access to the computers on any other computer will immediately send word to Batman and Oracle. The computers also know not just everything on the planet Earth, but everything Batman knows about other parts of the galaxy. Such as Kryptonian, Martian, Thanagarian, and other alien cultures. Another really awesome feature of the 'Cave is the replication computer. It can scan the brain of any being and recreate it so that they are able to be in two places at once. It was successfully tested on Alfred (see Gotham City) who uses it quite often to get work done around the house. There are about a million (exaggerating) other things the 'Cave has to offer, such as: laboratories, workshops, gymnasium, library, and parking garage.
Batman and Robin are not the only people that know of the 'Cave's location. Other super-friends of Batman also know, such as Superman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, the Outsiders and various other super-friends. And a few villains.
