Origins of Batman
After the release of Superman, people started getting bored with him. DC Comics was losing the grasp of their most famous character. So DC Comics asked people to come up with their own superhero. So Bob Kane thought of "the Bat-man". Bill Finger, friends with Bob Kane, said that Bob Kane's drawings of the Bat-man looked a lot like Superman. That was the point. The Bat-man was meant to be an exact opposite of Superman but at the same time does exactly what Superman does. Save the world! They looked at the story of Superman: an alien that grew up in a small town. Well, with the Bat-man, he was a human that grew up in the big city. Superman became a superhero because it was his destiny to bring hope to the people of Earth. Well, the Bat-man became a superhero because he saw his parents being shot and killed.
The first Bat-man comic came out in 1939, in Detective Comics #27. It was a huge hit (compared to Superman). Bob Kane, years after, continued to create the Bat-man in various different ways. And Bill Finger continued to write about the Bat-man in various different ways. Eventually, they decided to drop the hyphen and just call him the Batman. The Batman became so wildly known, they stopped calling him "The" Batman, and just said "Batman." His is still one of the greatest superheroes the world has ever known.
